HR & Recruitment: Why it Matters
and Why the Right Recruiter Makes All the Difference
The HR & recruitment industry shapes how organisations grow, support their people, and navigate change. From hiring and onboarding to performance, learning, reward and culture — it’s about putting people first.
It’s a space with huge range: from entry-level HR admin to C-suite leadership; from generalist roles to specialisms like L&D, DEI, ER and HR tech. And that’s where the right recruiter can help — whether you’re building a team or building your career.
Why work with a recruitment agency?
The right agency doesn’t just fill roles — they understand the landscape, champion great candidates, and help businesses build teams that last.
They get the roles, and the reality
Great recruiters understand the nuance of HR work — the difference between a true Business Partner and a reactive generalist, or why great culture-fit matters just as much as technical skill.
Coverage at every level
From junior talent coordinators to transformation leads, top recruiters work across the full HR landscape — in-house, agency-side, interim, permanent, project-based.
Sector expertise where it counts
Hiring for HR in fintech? Moving from in-house to charity? Some agencies specialise by industry, offering insight that goes far beyond job specs.
Help beyond hiring
Clients get support with benchmarking, DEI goals, workforce planning. Candidates get guidance on next steps, in-demand skills, and how to stand out.
Pathways to progress
From HR advisor to business partner, from recruiter to talent lead — good agencies help people take meaningful steps, not just make moves.
Market insight and human support
The best recruiters offer honest feedback, CV tips, and interview prep — and they do it all while treating people with respect.

candidateProactive, great communicators and good connections throughout the HR community
I've been aware of SD on and off for several years due to their connections with the Corporate Research Forum. I recently went through a pricess through to final two for a temp to perm senior HR role and found SD's team, and Chris Williams in their Interim team in particular, fantastic to deal with.
Early and frequent communication, good candidate briefs with great insight on the prospective employer. They knew the employer's needs well and clearly had good connections with them so were able to help with preparation etc. Great communication throughout, even during a slightly prolonged final decision period. An easy recommendation from me. Thanks folks

I had a very positive experience with re:find when they placed me into an Interim TA Lead role at Kambi.
What stood out to me most was the quality of the relationship throughout the process. The team were warm, professional and easy to deal with, but also highly credible and well-briefed. I never felt like I was being pushed into something for the sake of a placement. Instead, I felt they had taken the time to understand both the client’s needs and my background, and were trying to make a strong match on both capability and fit.
Communication was one of the strongest parts of the experience. I was kept well informed at each stage, with clear updates and good responsiveness. The conversations felt honest and constructive, which makes a real difference in interim hiring where speed matters, but so does context. I particularly appreciated that the discussions felt thoughtful rather than transactional.
The opportunity itself was also presented well. I had a clear sense of the brief, the environment, and where I could add value. That helped me go into the process with confidence and made the overall experience feel well-managed.
In terms of what went well, I would highlight three things in particular: the professionalism of the consultants, the quality and clarity of communication, and the sense that they were genuinely invested in getting the right outcome rather than simply making a quick introduction.
If I were to offer one constructive point for improvement, it would only be around continuing to build on the level of detail shared during the process, particularly in interim assignments where nuance around stakeholders, pace, and priorities can be incredibly helpful. That said, my overall experience was very strong and very positive.
I would happily recommend re:find to both clients and candidates. They were a pleasure to deal with and handled the process in a supportive, professional and credible way.

candidateAn excellent firm
I have worked with Katrina Stewart at Eton Bridge on a recent Financial Services opportunity and Liz Skakel on networking opportunities. I have found them to be responsive, keeping processes moving forward and providing updates along the way. They do the type of up-front due diligence that differentiates them in the market.

candidateVague Adverts and Given the Cold Shoulder
Gleeson is an agency i have known for a while, they have never been stellar but as I have progressed in my career they do not ever seem to want to engage.
I am passed around more minor team members rather than deal with those with the placements that are appropriate.
They clearly have a black book approach where roles are farmed out to their favourite contacts, not necessarily those that meet the requirements.
I have attempted contacting them through a variety of means but I am just ghosted.

candidateI have been a client and a candidate - Strategic Dimensions were excellent
I have worked with Strategic Dimensions over many years and strongly recommend them. They are open, honest, focused, have excellent industry knowledge and don't simply rely on a 'Little Black Book' - they genuinely try to make the right cultural match when matching roles and candidates. Strategic Dimensions is affiliated with the Corporate Research Forum, which provides excellent research and insights into people management; this link helps Strategic Dimensions to remain alert to trends and issues within the HR arena and to add value to both clients and candidates. The consultants, under the direction of the excellent Dan Caro, are well informed and genuinely interested in the careers and success of those they work with
