Significant Issues

I initially had a positive experience with this agency, communication was clear, organised, and professional. After leaving and later rejoining once I obtained my teaching certificate, the standard declined significantly. I want to acknowledge that Patrick, my consultant at the time, was excellent - supportive, professional, and communicative. Unfortunately, since his departure, communication and organisation have noticeably deteriorated. I was placed in a school that agreed to support me in gaining my teaching licence, with the agency acting as the intermediary. I completed both adult and child DBS checks on time and informed the agency immediately when additional information was needed from the school. Due to the branch manager Simi failing to pass this information on in time, I missed the submission deadline. This was completely avoidable and directly impacted my professional progression. Communication overall has been very poor. Important processes are not explained clearly, and I am often left chasing updates. Issues are frequently blamed on staff being on leave or emails being missed rather than the agency taking responsibility. I was also paid late, which caused unnecessary financial stress. Despite having several days to resolve my timesheet, it was not processed before payroll cut-off due to poor communication. The timesheet system itself is outdated and unprofessional, relying on photos of paper timesheets, which caused further issues when I was unwell. Despite being a qualified art teacher, I regularly see art roles advertised, yet I am not contacted or considered for these positions, reinforcing the feeling that teachers are treated as numbers rather than professionals. I submitted a formal complaint regarding these issues. Overall, the lack of support for professional progression, poor communication, late payment, outdated systems and failure to respond to a formal complaint have made this a very disappointing experience. I would not recommend this agency.

Significant Issues

I registered with Axcis Education last February/March to work as a special needs teaching assistant. I spoke with several people at the agency, and they were friendly. I worked hard to gather all the required documents—everything seemed fine so far. In the end, I waited and waited, but I never received any job offers, or the ones I did receive were for schools too far away, or they were for NVQ teaching assistant positions. Then, as the school year was ending and summer holidays were starting, I put it all aside. Now I'm contacting the agency again since the new school year has started, and they already have all the documents I sent them just 6 months ago. But they're asking me for two references from two previous employers again, even though Axcis already has these references from just 6 months ago! I don't want to ask my former bosses for this favor again. This agency doesn't care about your efforts; joining them and trying to find work through them has been a complete waste of time.
