Morgan McKinley - London

Disappointing experience as a candidate during the interview process. I was contacted by James Walker regarding an interview with Peel Hunt. There were so many leading questions about my availability and work situation before they even considered me for the role. They conducted 5 rounds over 3 weeks, culminating in a final round where I was to meet the CTO in person. I had my interview on Wednesday and I was called on late Friday evening before the interview, to inform me that they had decided not to hire for this position and abruptly hung up. I ended up spending £90 on train travel and took a day off, which was completely wasted since I couldn't cancel the ticket nor return to work that day. In summary, Morgan McKinley was inadequate, and Peel Hunt was utterly unprofessional. I would never suggest engaging with them for any job opportunities. Update: I got a call from the manager and updated some of the factual information. However the problem the Morgan McKinley manager had was I got my facts incorrect but not looking to find a way to pay me back or atleast ask an apology. Yet another reason I would suggest you to think twice considering them.

We engaged Morgan McKinley to support the recruitment of a senior sales leader, but unfortunately, the outcome was not successful. Despite clear briefing, many of the candidates put forward were junior or misaligned with the role requirements. The individual we ultimately hired struggled to engage with the core expectations of the position, and we had to end the placement prematurely. While Morgan McKinley maintained professional communication throughout, the mismatch in candidate quality led to wasted time and resources in screening, onboarding, and ultimately restarting the process. This would not be the first time Morgan McKinley have unsuccessfully placed candidates with us, with previous experiences being similar. Generally, we have found candidates who are not sourced from them to be better suited for our roles. We will not be using them again.

SUMMARY This is a really ineffective Headhunter. Used twice with the same bad results both times. The candidates will pass your interview but then not be able to do the job. It felt to us like they were trained by the Headhunter. Very expensive, no results. DETAILS The first employee did not have the technical skills to be a CTO. But said they did and were coached, in my opinion, to pass the interview. Once they started they said they had not coded in years And that they thought it would be just a relationships role. Some candidates interviewed had limited English. Others, I think, were picked up on Indeed or other recruitment sites based on the CV formats. Needless to say this person lasted 4 weeks. Then we decided to give them another chance a few months later. This was a mistake. This was for a sales role person handling the sales head hunting brought us several candidates, all of whom seemed junior and took up a lot of time to be interviewed and screened out of the process. Despite the salary being quite competitive, the person we ultimately hired turned out to be unwilling to make direct sales and instead want it to lead others in the sales process. We are not sure what they were told about the role, but this was not appropriate for what the company needed. This person also could not stay in the role. Overall, we find Morgan McKinley to not be good at sourcing good candidates. They seem to provide candidates that will pass your interview process. They can collect their fee but they will not be at the right skill level for you. I suggest you stay well clear and try alternative headhunters or do your own direct searches. They aren't bringing you anything that you can't find yourself.

Had the unfortunate opportunity of working with Robyn & Arj on a role. No feedback or even a response until you have chased it over several weeks. Hands down the worst recruitment agency I’ve come across.
